On Friday, February 23rd, students in Honors Orchestra attended a mandatory Pre-University Interscholastic League (more commonly known as UIL) clinic at the Middle School in preparation for their annual UIL orchestra competition next month. Students enjoyed pizzas generously donated by Mimi’s Pizzeria and cookies by JD’s Chippery.
The clinic was taught by Mr. Brian Coatney, who currently serves as the Head Orchestra Director at Plano Senior High School. He is a member of the American String Teachers Association, Texas Music Educators Association, and Texas Orchestra Director’s Association.
The students have been hard at work working on their pieces, and will continue to work on polishing them for the contest.
The UIL Concert and Sightreading contest will be held on Thursday, March 8th at Nimitz High School at 3pm in Irving. Parents, families and friends are encouraged to attend. We wish them the best of luck!
