HPMS Honor Orchestra Earns Sweepstakes at UIL Competition

Led by our amazing Orchestra Director, Ms. Louise Rossi, HPMS Honor Orchestra earned Sweepstakes at the annual University Interscholastic League (UIL) Concert and Sightreading Contest.  The highest honor at this competition, averaging a superior rating in both concert and sight-reading portions of the competition.  The repertoire performed included Spata’s Dragonfly, Fantasia in F by Rush, and Heart of Fire by Bernofsky. This year’s Contest was held on Thursday, March 8th at Nimitz High School in Irving, Texas. Following the competition, students were treated to pizza at Cici’s provided by the Booster Club.

The Music Program of the UIL is designed to support and enrich the teaching of music as an integral component of the public school curriculum in the state of Texas. Each year approximately one half million middle school and high school students reap the benefits of participation in these music events. Under Ms. Rossi’s guidance, HPMS Honor Orchestra has consistently earned Sweepstakes.

Our heartfelt gratitude to our supportive parents, private teachers, administration, and our amazing HPISD community for your support in helping these talented students achieve this remarkable accomplishment!  #ExcellenceLivesHere
