Led by our Orchestra Director, Ms. Sarah Willson and Assistant Orchestra Director, Mr. Drew Reynolds, the 6th grade Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra, Honor Orchestra and our very first Harp Ensemble performed a medley of classics and Christmas songs for their annual Winter Concert at the Highland Park Middle School Auditorium.
The sixth graders performed Woolstenhulme’s Orchestra in C and A Christmas Medley, and Beethoven’s timeless Ode to Joy. Philharmonic Orchestra performed Winter Wonderland and Frosty the Snowman arranged by Cerulli, Bishop’s The Christmas Symphony and Dackow’s Trepak. Students in the Honor Orchestra performed White Christmas arranged by Chase, Christmas Echo Concerto [(with a quartet comprised of 8th graders Justine (Violin 1), Elizabeth Chen (Violin 2), Madeline Chun, (Viola), and Thomas Zhang (cello)] arranged by Milford, and Scenes from the classic Polar Express arranged by Lavender and adapted by Moore. Our harp ensemble, Daisy Murphy, Elizabeth Kerr and Noemi Tsai debuted a medley of holiday music. It was certainly an evening filled with Holiday Cheer!
We will like to acknowledge the family of Cecelia Coale who generously provided refreshments for our performers following the performance. And to Bird Bakery for donating baked goods to help with our fundraiser to benefit Raider Orchestra. Our gratitude to all our corporate sponsors and families who have donated to our Orchestra, and to Raider Orchestra Booster Club who continue to work behind the scenes to make this year the best it can be for our students. And a very special thanks to Principals, Dr. Skip Moran and Mr. Jeremy Gilbert for their support of our Orchestra.
